David Lester is a freelance bassist and private teacher from Frederick, MD. He is skilled in all styles of music, specializing in funk, rock, jazz, and classical. He is also a guitarist, drummer, composer and conductor.
David performs in the Baltimore/Washington area, playing in jazz combos, rock bands, orchestras, and just about any other genre or ensemble.
He has been teaching since 2006, and has had multiple students go on to study music at college, including at the Berklee School of Music, University of Maryland School of Music, and Shenandoah Conservatory. He has also had many bass students play in all-county and all-state orchestras and jazz bands.
David’s formal education began at Hood College in Frederick, where he obtained a B.A. in Music History & Literature. He also spent one year of post-graduate study at Manhattan School of Music, studying double bass performance.
